The people of Bor town remembered their son Late Dr.  John Garang and named its first Institute (Dr.  John Garang Institute of Science and Technology) after the great leader, the first institute of its kind in Bor town and will be officially inaugurated on February 1.

Director Dr Vasile Chirias said, the institute will begin with basic Course on February 2nd , moreover it will  offer its students Bachelor Degree in several courses that include: public administration, forestry, gardening, pharmaceutical technology and ecological security, which the admission for it is expected to open in September this year.  

Student from all ten southern states will be admitted into the institute with Jonglei state getting the bulk of the share for its students. The present capacity of the institute is 104 students with future plans to increase the number of seats.

All students from southern Sudan who passed their high school exams from any part of Sudan, Kenya or Ethiopia are eligible for admission if they met the admission requirements and criteria.
