Moving goods and materials from place to another is a complex task, yet very important and in a vast country like Sudan, this task could be very much intricate and require a professional to carry it out, and with the business sector growing vigorously and rapidly, the need for such service increased hundred folds.

The emergence and the entrance of several new carriers into this lucrative arena of goods moving, signify the swift growth of this sector and its guaranteed return for investors.

The feverish competition between foreign and national companies in order to provide the best services resulted in improving their standard of efficiency and reliability, with Sudan National Carrier -Sudan Airways- leading from the front.

National Carriers:
SUDAN AIRWAYS: dedicated freighter serving the cargo sector in Sudan through charter and scheduled flights. The carrier has over half century of rich experience, to be precise, it has solid 58 years of experiences in handling perishables through the major export of Sudan (meat & vegetables and fresh fruits).

The basic infrastructure of the airlines includes, a cargo terminal capable of handling up to 1000 tons at the time, in addition the construction of the new racking system, in space of 5400 m2 which allow the facility to a accommodate an additional 1000 tons. Moreover, an area dedicated for over size pieces of 3000 m2 are serving all cargo flight arriving Khartoum airport.

The transit area within the main warehouse has a capacity of 80 tons is serving transit cargo shipment from different stations. Services available include dangerous goods, cold rooms and freezer, refrigeration for medicines and vaccination under delivery formalities of transit services. Cargo warehouse is serving several airlines.

JUBA AIR CARGO: an airline based in Khartoum, established in 1996 they operates domestic cargo flights. The airline has been operating since 1997 from its base in Khartoum and Sharjah. It operates cargo services to the following destinations Khartoum, Juba, Waw and Malakal.


AZZA TRANSPORT: an airline based in Khartoum, Sudan. It operates a cargo charter service throughout Africa and the Middle East and is planning services for Europe. Its main base is Khartoum International Airport. Established in 1993 and started operations in September 1993, it is a joint venture own by Omdurman National Bank and Shiekan Insurance.

BADR AIRLINES: a private company established in 1997. The company is mainly engaged in cargo transportation and occasionally provides charter VIP flights. The company is holding an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) meeting the requirements of the Air act of 1999 and the Air Aviation Organization (ICAO). The following categories are covered under this AOC small aircraft, large aircraft, and heavy aircraft for both Passenger traffic & cargo. Through accurate regular and charter services, the company has gained a good reputation as a carrier for a variety of customers in both the governmental and the private sector.


ELHIGAZI: one of the leading companies in the aviation services industry in the Sudan. They provides ground services to commercial, business and government aviation customers as well as air cargo services for airlines, and forwarders. In addition to comprehensive range of services of cargo management. For cargo handling, they offer dollies, baggage trailers, container transporters, and cargo loaders to suit all requirements of airport ground cargo operation. Furthermore, the company has their own storage and warehouse facilities available to customers at Khartoum Airport

AIR WEST: an airline based in Khartoum, Sudan. It operates domestic passenger services and international cargo charters. Its main base is Khartoum International Airport, with a hub at Sharjah International Airport. The airline was established in April 1992 and started operations in October 1992. Air West was the first Sudanese airline to start to fly between Khartoum and Rumbek, where (SPLM) has its headquarters.

Foreign Carriers:
ETIHAD CRYSTAL CARGO:
Launched in 2004, Etihad Crystal Cargo is the fast growing cargo division of Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates. The company is offering sophisticated and innovative air cargo services.

With its home base at Abu Dhabi International Airport, Etihad Crystal Cargo offers its valued customers an extensive range of cargo services on all flights of Etihad Airways’ rapidly expanding network.

In addition, a regional freighter fleet operates scheduled all-cargo destinations and worldwide charter services. The company opens it branch office in Khartoum recently, in order to get its share of the pie from this ever-growing sector.

Several other airliners are operating in Sudan such as, Emirates, Egypt Air, Saudi Airline, Royal Jordan Air, Yemenia, Ethiopian airline and Turkey Fly Air and many more.

The doors for investment in this sector is wide open and the facilities provided by the government for investors is too appealing, with too many old rules discarded and replaced by newer ones.
