Criminal laws Incriminate Female Circumcision, Says Former State minister of Justice

The former State Minister of Justice, Dr. Ahmed Al-Mufti, has affirmed that the Criminal Law and the International Law incriminated the female circumcision worldwide. Dr. Al-Mufti, addressing a workshop organized by the Women Center for Human Rights and the UN Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) pointed out that the African countries have earlier issued Mobotu Protocol, which incriminated the female circumcision and violence against women in the African continent. He said that the violence against women includes any physical, sexual psychological or economic act that harms woman. He reviewed a number of the legislations that prevent violence against woman. Meanwhile, the workshop recommended the importance of issuance of a law that prohibits the female circumcision and organizes the work of the mid-wives.
