Al Hilal beat Zesco United To Top Group (A)

Sudanese giants Al-Hilal earned their first win of the group phase of the CAF Champions League with a lone goal victory of Zambian debutants Zesco United in Khartoum on Friday. With this result Al-Hilal top the group with 4 points.

Defender Osama Altaewon scored the only goal of the Group ‘A’ encounter held at the Khartoum Stadium.

Backed by an expectant crowd, the Omdurman-based club started on a high note and their efforts yielded dividends after just nine minutes with Altaewon slotting home what turned out to be the match winner.

The victory puts Al-Hilal, making their third successive appearance at the group phase on top of Group ‘A’ on four points whilst Zesco have just a point from two games.

Away from home Al-Merrikh in the other Group A game will face Kano Pillars of Nigeria , today evening.
