CECAFA /Kagame Cup tournament in its 35th edition, which had been hosted by El-Merreikh of Sudan, conclude yesterday at the Red Castle, the final match played between Sudan Champion El- Merreikh and the crowned champion of this edition the Rwandan representative Atraco FC.
In front of strong crowd of about 30 thousand spectator, the guest displayed the best out of them, and terrorized the home side throughout the 90 minutes, and held them at bay.
Kitagenda was the hero of the night, after scoring the only goal of the match in the 15th minute of the first half, after executing a very clever pass from former international Andre Lomami, and sent a powerful shot from outside the 18th yard to beat El Merreikh goalkeeper Akram Al-Hadi Saleem.
Atraco brave Goalkeeper Eric Ndayishime prevents the star stud attack of the home side from reaching his net, in spite of their hard efforts to do so.
In addition to the trophy and gold medal, Atraco bagged US$50,000 and the trophy, while the runner up El Merreikh took US$30,000 and the third placed TP Mazembe of DR Congo US$20,000.
