The Leaders of the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have lauded the efforts the government of Sudan to solve Darfur problem alongside the other efforts being exerted by the government to reach to a peaceful negotiated upon solution.

The leaders of the GCC expressed their solidarity with Sudan and their rejection to the procedures taken by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in relation to the conflict in Darfur.

Within this context, the final communiqué' of the Thirtieth session of the Higher Council of the GCC appreciated the benevolent efforts being exerted by the State of Qatar within the framework of the Arab- African Ministerial Committee in coordination with the Union Nations- African Union joint Mediator to prepare for and harbour the peace talks between the government of Sudan and the armed movements in Doha.

The council looks forward to the success of the negotiations to realize the inspired Sudanese consensus, welcoming the Declaration of Principles in Doha signed last November asserted that Darfur is the part of the unified Sudan.

The council added that Darfur problem is a political issue that could not be solved except through a serious dialogue between the people of the one homeland, expressing support to the state of Qatar aiming to reach at a just and sustainable peace in Darfur.
