Sudanese government committed to CPA

President Mwai Kibaki hold bilateral talks with the Vice-President of Sudan Ali Osman Taha at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, Nigeria during the UN Peace and Security council summit.

The Government of National Unity of Sudan has reaffirmed its commitment to the full implementation of the Southern Sudan Comprehensive Peace Agreement-CPA.

Speaking when he met with President Mwai Kibaki on the sidelines of the African Union Peace and Security Council Summit in Abuja, Nigeria, the 2nd vice President of Sudan, Mr. Osman Twaha briefed the president on implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and the challenges facing it.

Mr. Osman Twaha assured President Kibaki that the Sudan Government will ensure that there is no security lapse and that the North and South will adhere to the terms and conditions of the CPA saying none of the parties involved will walk out of the process.

On his part, President Kibaki encouraged the Sudanese leaders to continue with the implementation of the process saying as a signatory and one of the architects of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, Kenya will ensure its success.

 Present were the Minister for Foreign Affairs Moses, Assistant Minister Orwa Ojode and a member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations Mr. Jeremiah Kioni and the Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Mr. Thuita Mwangi and officials of the Government of Sudan among others.
