Presidents Al-Bashir and Mubarak Holds Talks in Cairo

SUNA- President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, and the Egyptian President, Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, Sunday held a session of talks in Cairo on the developments in Sudan, especially with regard to the efforts for realizing peace, the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) and the relations between Khartoum and Cairo.

Sudan Ambassador to Cairo, Abdul-Moneim Mabrouk, said that the talks between the two presidents tackled the situation in Darfur and the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) and the ongoing preparations for holding the elections in the fixed time. He described the two parties affirmed their keenness to consolidate the relations and the cooperation between the two countries in all fields. He said that President Mubarak assured the stance of Egypt in support of Sudan concerning the allegations of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

 Ambassador Mabrouk said that President Mubarak affirmed the keenness of Egypt to push ahead the peace process in Darfur and the negotiation efforts through the uniting of the armed factions' stances to pave the way for success of the negotiations. He said that President Al-Bashir has lauded the efforts of Egypt for boosting the peace process in Darfur.
