Population Census Council Approves Report of Technical Committee of 5th Population Census

SUNA-The Population Census Council, chaired by Minister of Presidency Affair, General Bekri Hassan Salih has endorsed the report of the Technical Committee of the 5th Population Census prior to submission to the Presidency of the Republic for final approval and announcement. Minister of the Presidency Affairs, Bakri Hassan Salih, has told the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) following the 8th meeting of the Council which was held at the Republican Palace, Sunday that according to the report of the technical committee the number of Sudanese population has reached 39.154.490, pointing out that Khartoum State came at the top of the list followed by the Southern Darfur State, Gezira State and then Northern Kordufan State.

The Minister said details of the of the 5th Population Census which will be declared after its approval and endorsement, will help a lot with regard to peace entitlements, pointing out that Central Bureau of Statistics((CPS) would be mandated delegation to announce details of the census resuts. Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Information and Communication, Abdul Dafie Al-Khateeb lauded the Technical Committee which includes the CPS, the Population Commission in Southern Sudan as well as all the circles that participated in the 5th Population Census in North and the South including the security and information bodies and the Observers Committee which includes Sudanese and foreign experts.
