Dr Nafie Ali Nafie says his visit to France has centred on bilateral relations

SUNA- The Assistant of the President Dr Nafie Ali Nafie has pointed out that his meeting with the French officials in Paris focussed on bilateral relations because they would ifnlurce the talks on other issues and that the two sides reviewed all issues of concern to france and to britain as their view on the bilateral relations.

Dr Nafi has pointed out in statements upon his return evening Friday that he held talks with senior French officials including the Secretary of the Presidency of the Repujblic and the President Advisor on African Affairs as well as officials at the French Ministry of Foreign affairs.

He said he also met with officials from the British Foreign Ministry and that they also held tri-lateral talks that focussed on discussions of bilateral relations between the Sudan and France and between Sudan and Britain. He said the talks touched on issues relevent to the sudan includign the question of Darfur and the ICC and the Sudanese Chadian relations.

He said on the question of Darfur sudan was of the view that efforts shoudl be exerted within the programe of the axis of peace relization on the ground with regard to the return of the IDPs and the prevelance of peace, inter tribal reconciliation and commitment by the government for exerting all in its power to facilitate the political resolution for the problem. Dr Nafie has pointed out that the tri- Partite meeting review the humanitarin action in darur and he reaffiremd that the expulsion of orgnizatins out of the country was based on solid information about the intervention in the domesitca affairs of the sudan and that they have become impediment before the return of the displaced persons to their home areas.

He said Sudan has explained that humanrian action has not been affected by the expulsion of those organizations from the country becasue the government has fully assessed all their activities there and that the joint reprot between the government of the Sudan and the United Nations has raffirmed this assessment.

He said the sudan would not need to reconsider its position regarding those organizations and that there was no need now to enter into dialogue about this issue. He described his talks and meeting as being fruitful, frank and clea and that they centred on t he need for focussing on bilateral relations.
