American Senator John Kerry Arrives in Khartoum on Two-Day Official Visit

SUNA- Chairman of the Foreign Relations at the American Senate, Senator John Kerry, Wednesday evening arrived in Khartoum in an official two-day visit to hold talks with senior government officials on the bilateral relations, the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) and the situation in Darfur. In an arrival statement, Kerry said that he looks forward for holding talks on very important issues that shall be discussed, top of them are the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) and the situation in Darfur.

He expressed his hope that progress will be achieved with regard to the humanitarian situation in Darfur, indicating that he will meet with a number of senior Sudanese officials and will visit Darfur. Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Mohamed Al-Hassan Al-Amin, who received Senator John Kerry at Khartoum Airport, hoped that the visit of Kerry will contribute to normalization of the Sudanese - American relations and will be of positive outcome.
