Vice president directs the Ministry of Finance to form committee to prioritize agricultural requirements

SUNA - Vice President of the Republic Ali Osman Mohamed Taha has directed the Ministry of Finance to form a permanent committee that will bring together all concerned parties to to prioritize requirements of the agricultural season, 2009-2010.

The directive says the committee has to begin its meetings on Wednesday and on regular basis. Presiding over the meeting of the Agricultural Development offices at the Council of Ministers Tuesday, Taha urged study the various views submitted and reconcile the various options to solve situations of the irrigated schemes and submission of specific recommendations on the subject.

The meeting reviewed three reports on the preparations to the summer agricultural season 2009-2010 in terms of providing of the agricultural inputs and pesticides, in addition to the irrigation operations and summer maintenance of the irrigated systems in the irrigated schemes as well as the financing priorities of the season.

The meeting directed the Secretariat General of the Agricultural Development to prepare a memo on the inclusion of the two crops of maize and rice as the two economic crops in the next season. The meeting also directed follow-up of the use of improved seeds, follow up and recommendatiosn on the matter.
