SUNA - President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir is to leave next Wednesday for the Ghanaian capital of Accra to participate in the summit conference of the countries of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group (ACP), scheduled for October 2-3 there.

Sudan Envoy to the European Union Ambassador Nageeb Al-Khair Abdul-Wahab said in a statement to Sudan News Agency (SUNA) that President Al-Bashir, in his capacity as current chairman of the group, would present an important address to the summit, in which he will review current international political situations and their reflections on the partnership between the countries of the group and the European Union (EU).

President Al-Bashir will further review in his address developments concerning the negotiations of the partnership and the vision of the political and security partnership between the ACP Group and the EU and the pressures that have been exercised on the countries of the group in the recent period by states of the EU.

Ambassador Abdul-Wahab added that President Al-Bashir's address would also touch on the just basis for the partnership between the two groups away from any dictation or pressures. Ambassador Abdul-Wahab pointed out that the address of the President of the Republic would also tackle the issue of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the vision of the ACP Group towards the allegations by the ICC prosecutor against Sudan in light of the statement issued by the group on July 25 and the stance expressed by the group during a visit of its delegation to Sudan last August.

Ambassador Abdul-Wahab pointed out in his statement to SUNA that the ACP Group forum is considered as important for Sudan, where there are 79 states that show solidarity with Sudan concerning the issue of Darfur and the ICC, adding that Sudan would work for the issuance of a resolution by the summit for the stoppage of the procedures of the ICC against the Sudanese leadership in conformity of the stances of the group in support of Sudan.

Ambassador Abdul-Wahab said that President Al-Bashir would hold meetings on the sidelines of the summit, including a meeting with the leadership of the European Union Commission and the Presidency of EU, which is assumed currently by France.
