SUNA - The Kuwaiti Minister of Finance Mustafa Al-Shimali arrived in Khartoum Saturday leading a high-level delegation on a two-day official visit to Sudan during which he is to hand over a written message from Amir of Kuwait Shiekh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jabir Al-Sabah to President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir.

Minister of Finance and National Economy Dr. Awad Al-Jaz welcomed the visit of his Kuwaiti counterpart and the accompanying delegation, expressing hope that the visit would open the way for a strategic economic partnership that meets the aspirations of the two countries in joint work, pointing out that Kuwaiti has been pioneering in investment in Sudan. Dr. Al-Jaz praised the Sudanese-Kuwaiti relations, describing them as distinguished relations and that the visit comes in the context of boosting further the joint cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

The Kuwaiti Minister of Finance Mustafa Al-Shimali, on his part, said in a press statement that the visit aims at conveying a message from His Highness the Amir of Kuwait to President Al-Bashir besides discussing bilateral relations and means of boosting them further, especially in the economic field.

He added that the visit would focus on expanding the investments in Sudan and reactivation and development of the existing investment projects, hoping that the visit would be culminated with more cooperation to boost further the joint investments and relations. Sudan Ambassador to Kuwait Dr. Ibrahim Mirghani said that the Kuwaiti delegation's visit is step for boosting joint cooperation, finding a mechanism for establishing strong strategic relations and boosting the economic ties, referring to Kuwait's contributions to Marawi Dam Project.

He pointed out that Kuwait would participate in the food security projects in Sudan for the vast potentials it has. Minister Al-Shimali is to meet President Al-Bashir Sunday and hold joint talks. He will also meet the Vice-President of the Republic and other senior officials. The Kuwaiti Minister of Finance was received by Minister of Finance and National Economy Dr. Awad Al-Jaz and other senior officials and the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Khartoum and members of the staff of the embassy.
