Chinese President affirms in message to President Al-Bashir his country's support to Sudan to surpass ICC allegations

SUNA- Chinese President Hu Jintao has affirmed his country's support to Sudan to surpass the allegations of the International Criminal Court (ICC) through the political and diplomatic efforts.

The Chinese President expressed in a message received by President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir when he met at the Republican Palace Sunday the special envoy of President Hu Jintao, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun, his appreciation to the efforts exerted by the Sudanese government in the past period to boost the peace process in Darfur including continuation of negotiations with the armed movements, deployment of the hybrid operation and facilitating the humanitarian aid operations, calling on the international community to support the government's efforts in this regard.

The President of the Republic, on his part, expressed appreciation to the stances of the President, Government and people of friendly China and the role it has been playing with all parties and states at the Security Council and the General Assembly of the United Nations for solving Darfur issue and surpassing its negative effects. Mr. Zhai Jun said in a press statement following the meeting that the message of President Hu Jintao dealt with the distinguished relations of cooperation and friendship between Beijing and Khartoum that have realized many of the common interests of the two countries.

He added that the message referred to the developments of the political situations in Sudan, especially the allegations of the ICC against the Sudanese leadership. Mr. Zhai Jun stressed the importance of focusing the regional and international efforts on boosting durable peace in Darfur and resolving all the security and humanitarian situations that resulted from the state of instability instead of attempting to hinder these steps for realizing these noble humanitarian values.

He said his country's movements and its consultations with states and the regional and international organizations aim at explaining its unshakable stance towards the peace process in Darfur and the importance of supporting it and not to carry out any act that hinders it or negatively affects it, pointing to the importance of focusing in the coming period on completion of the negotiation efforts with the armed movements and boosting the national process for realizing peace in Darfur for realizing the interests of the Sudanese nation.

State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ali Karti, on his part, considered the message of the Chinese President as the strongest expression of support to Sudan's stances, adding that the Chinese side sees the importance that the vision of solving the issue of the ICC should take into consideration the parties that motivated the ICC to adopt such a stance.
