SUNA - The Government and the Kuwait Fund for Economic Development are due to sign Monday a loan agreement to complete the second phase of Merowe Dam.

The President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, received at the Guest House Sunday evening the Director of the Kuwait Fund for Economic Development, Abdul-Wahab Al-Badr, and welcomed the desire of Kuwait to invest in Sudan.

He reiterated Sudan keenness to expand its relations and cooperation with Kuwait under the increasing international need for food. Al-Badr said that Kuwait is working to increase its investments in Sudan in the future by the Kuwait Fund for Economic Development and the private sector in Kuwait.

He said that by the signing of the loan agreement on Monday the Kuwaiti contribution will amount to more than 200 million dollars. Meanwhile, the Minister of Finance, Dr. Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz, indicated that the Kuwait delegation expressed the desire of their country to get engaged in bigger investment partnerships in Sudan at the agricultural, aviation and hotel fields. He assured that Sudan is keeping its doors open for the Arab brothers to invest in the country.
