SUNA- The Council of Arab Foreign Ministers affirmed in their meeting in Cairo Saturday their stand beside Sudan in rejecting the decision of the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) as a legally flawed decision and outside the framework of its jurisdiction. The Council affirmed its rejection to any attempts to politicize the principles of the international justice and using it to undermine the sovereignty, unity security and stability of states.

The Arab ministers called on the international community and the international and regional organizations to move to confront the decision of the ICC prosecutor legally and politically to stop it and consider it null and void. The council called for giving priority to the political process and working for improving the security and the humanitarian situation for Darfur citizens.

The council also called for cessation of the unjust campaigns against Sudan and its leadership, referring to the cooperation of the Government of Sudan with the international community, the United Nations and the African Union on the security, political, and humanitarian tracks for realizing peace in Darfur.

The council affirmed that heads of state have immunity in expression of the sovereignty of the state according to the established laws and norms and all the UN agreements, especially Vienna Agreement for the year 1978. The council affirmed that the conflict in Darfur is an internal one so that it should not have been referred to the ICC.

The council warned of the dangerous effects of the decision on the security and stability in the area a matter that poses a threat to the Arab national security, regional security and international peace. The council assigned the Secretary General of the Arab League to continue his efforts in cooperation with the Government of Sudan and follow up the matter.
