SUNA- The President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al- Bashir has received an invitation from the Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-Moon inviting him to take part in the international food summit meeting that will take place in t he Italian capital of Rome beginning of next month. Ambassador Abdul-Mohamed Abdul-Halim, the permanent envoy of the Sudan to the United Nations said the Secretary General sent a message to the President of the Republic inviting him to take part in the summit which will be held in coordination between the United Nations and the FAO and different United Nations agencies and is due to discuss the rise in food commodities prices around the globe.

The summit will discuss the climatic challenges, the bio-energy as well as the roles the agricultural sector could play to reduce climatic changes. The summit will also review permanent solutions through the renewal of policies, strategies and programme for international food security. The summit is expected to issue an international declaration on food security and the measures to be adopted therein.
