The Presidential Advisor, Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail, is due to head Sudan delegation for the summit meeting of the Security Council and countries of pending files before the Security Council and other states, scheduled to be held in New York Wednesday. In a press statement to SUNA, Sudan envoy to the United Nations, Abdul-Mahmoud Abdul-Halim, said that the meeting will tackle the relation between the United Nations and regional organizations; top of them is the African Union, toward boosting the international peace and security.
He said that Dr. Ismail will present at the meeting a message from the President of the Republic, Filed Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, on Sudan's visions regarding the issues that are exposed before the summit.
Ambassador Abdul-Halim said that the Presidential Advisor would meet during the meeting with a number of the participating heads of delegation and the UN Secretary General. He said that it was confirmed that the Presidents of Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cote d'Ivoire, Somalia and the Ethiopian Prime Minister will take part in the summit, adding that a number of countries will participate in the summit meeting with ministerial and envoy levels. Meanwhile, a joint meeting of the Security Council and the African Peace and Security Commission at the level of envoys is due to be held in New York on Thursday to discuss a number of issues and coordination between the two parties.
Ambassador Abdul-Halim said that a mission of the Security Council would visit Sudan by the end of next May in the context of an African tour with the aim to get informed on the peace settlement and some peace-keeping operations in the region.
