Presidents Al-Bashir and Afeworki hold talks

SUNA - President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir and Eritrean President Issias Afeworki held talks at the Presidential Palace in Asmara Wednesday on bilateral relations and issues of mutual concern besides the Sudanese-Chadian relations and the situation in Darfur. President Al-Bashir said in a press statement following the talks that his visit to Eritrea came in the context of the continuous consultations between the two countries and the developed relations between Khartoum and Asmara.

The President pointed out that the talks also tackled the relations in the fields of investment and trade exchange, noting that he discussed with the Eritrean President the role that can be played by his country towards Darfur issue. President Al-Bashir pointed out that the talks also tackled the Sudanese-Chadian relations, indicating that there is an agreement between Sudan and Chad and Eritrea was one of the sponsors of the agreement, explaining that he discussed with President Afeworki the possibility of reactivating the agreement and its implementation, pointing out that without mending of the Sudanese-Chadian relations there will be a negative effect on the situations in Darfur. President Al-Bashir affirmed that the relations between Sudan and Eritrea would witness positive development in all fields.
