President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, began Sunday a visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by a meeting of the UAE President, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, during which they discussed progress of the bilateral relations, especially in the economic field, and issues of mutual concern.
In a statement to SUNA, the Press Secretary of the President of the Republic, Mahjoub Fadul Badri, said that President Al-Bashir met separately with Sheikhs Mansour and Mohamed bin Zayed. He said that President Al-Bashir met in Abu Dhabi with Sudanese and UAE businessmen during who signed at the meeting a protocol on foundation of the Joint Council of Sudanese and UAE Businessmen which is due to lead the joint investment work between the two countries, especially in the agricultural field. President Al-Bashir said at the meeting that the cooperation between Sudan and the UAE in the investment field will achieve a big success.
He said that Sudan is keen make oil as approach for investment and realization of development, therefore the state is keen to attract foreign investment. He said that the investment legislations, atmosphere in Sudan and the love of the Sudanese people to their UAE brothers are guarantees for success of their investments in Sudan. President Al-Bashir pointed out that he will personally give a special concern to the UAE investments in Sudan. He indicated that the economic and trade cooperation comes in a time when the food prices are increasing and when the Arab World is suffering a food gap of 18 billion dollars.
The meeting between President Al-Bashir and the Sudanese and UAE businessmen was also addressed by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz, who affirmed that Sudan welcomes investments under the prevalent atmosphere of political stability and security, adding that Sudan exists in a strategic position in the region. The meeting was also addressed by Chairmen of the Sudanese Businessmen Union, Saoud Al-Berair, and Chairman of the UAE Trade Chambers, Salih Al-Shams, who both affirmed the keenness to establish a firm economic partnership.
